This is because liquid calories are not as satisfying as solid foods and do not have fiber, protein, or healthy fats to keep you full or add health benefits to the calories you consume. Whole grains are much healthier than refined grains because they are high in fiber and associated with a lower risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) and type 2 diabetes. People who consume whole grains instead of refined grains have also been shown to have better lipid profiles and better glycemic control.Artificial sweeteners found in diet soft drinks are known to activate insulin, which causes the body to go into fat storage mode and can cause weight gain, even though the soda contains no calories in itself. Diet soft drinks have also been linked to a higher risk of metabolic syndrome compared to regular soft drinks. Instead of drinking diet soda, opt for carbonated water bubbles or a small handful of nuts or other fiber-packed snacks. Processed pastries are made with refined sugar, refined wheat flour, hydrogenated oils (unhealthy trans fats), and a bunch of other chemicals and artificial ingredients.
Trans fats have been associated with coronary heart disease, sudden death from heart causes, and diabetes. Coffee is the main source of caffeine. Coffee beans are cultivated with the use of pesticides and herbicides, which are naturally toxic. Caffeine is also found in chocolates, cola and other soft drinks, so it's best to avoid them if you want to maintain good health. Some signs of problems with caffeine are headache, depression, insomnia, high blood pressure, fatigue, etc. Refined foods and processed foods are made from maida with no or very low fiber content.
A lack of fiber in the diet causes constipation, slow bowels and can even lead to colon cancer. A whole-food diet with lots of vegetables and fruits provides enough fiber. Animal proteins such as fish, eggs and dairy products, chicken provide the complete source of protein which is good for health but in excess can be harmful. The most popular source of animal fats such as cheese, whole milk, ghee, red meat and beef can cause a lot of harm to your health. Candy bars are generally unhealthy because of their high calorie, sugar, and fat content. In addition to these elements, factors such as unhealthy cooking conditions and inadequate quality controls add to the dangerous nature of fast food or junk food. Harvard nutrition scientists have compiled the following list of unhealthy foods that you should keep to a minimum: sugar, soft drinks, processed pastries, coffee, soft drinks, refined foods, processed foods, animal proteins, candy bars, and partially hydrogenated oils (PHO).
